A machined ring circles the headset jack. It is lit by the jack's own detect switch — a mechanical contact that closes when a plug is seated. No software decides whether it glows. Lit means a microphone is attached. Dark means there is no path from the room to anything. It is the only colour on the product, and it means one thing.
No speaker, so a conversation cannot leak into the room. No camera. No cellular baseband and no IMEI, so there is no carrier record and no tower to associate you with a place. No Bluetooth. No app store, and no way to install anything. Wi‑Fi, a screen, and a jack.
What that costs you
It is not a phone. It cannot call phone numbers. It needs Wi‑Fi, and the network can see that you connected to it, though not to whom you spoke or what was said.
Setup happens on a computer over a cable, because a device this small should never ask you to type a password on it.
And it holds about two days of standby, not a week. Staying on Wi‑Fi so it can ring is what costs the battery.
The keypad's digits are in different positions every time you unlock it, so watching your fingers tells an observer nothing and the smudges on the glass tell them less. A second PIN opens a second, real profile and destroys the first.
The screen is grey and black; it holds no colour, no logo and no notification you did not ask for.
Every unit ships under a fibre seal whose photograph and code are published to your account the day it is packed. Compare them before you cut it. Inside, taped to the card, is the driver for the four screws in the back — because a claim about what is not inside a device is only worth anything if you are invited to check.
